Coastal Scents 88 Color Palette

So I decided to do a smokey eye but less intense, so I used a pinkey-lavender and silver from the 88 color palette from CS.

Halloween~ Scene Makeup

So I went to a halloween party last night. On actual halloween I plan on dressing up as a giraffe, but since all my friends that were going to be there last night will also see me on halloween night, I figured I shouldn't just be a giraffe twice. So I came up with this "scene girl" or "emo girl" or "punk girl" look. Whatever you want to call it. I used the coastal scents color palette. Enjoy!

1.
scene makeup
193 up, 41 down love it hate it

neon, bright, bold makeup worn by the scene kids. Girls wear many different eyeshadows at once, many different shades, as long as there bright and bold. the most commom style is bright pink under the eyes with purple, blue, green, or yellow on the top or sides..or any combination of colors

That's urbandictionary.com's definition of scene makeup. When I think scene I think emo and punk mixed together, bright neons contrasted with black. No browns or tans here, except the lips and cheeks. The eyes are the main attraction here. So put foundation on your face (you want a perfect complexion so go with something heavier) and prime your eyes. Also, I used quite a bit of bronzer to get that high cheekbone look that's popular in this genre of style, if you will.

So I used my coastal scents matte color palette for the eyes. Using ABC down the rows and 123's on the columns, I used the matte black all the way at H8, and the bright pink at G6. That's it. I decided to put a little highlight right under my brow and on the top of my cheekbones, but that's optional.
Take the pink (or whatever color you want to use) and put it all over the lid, making sure to get good color in the inner corner, but not going to far up since we want a cat eye look. Then I took my crease brush and put a little black dot in my crease at the outter V area, just for reference of where I wanted the wing to come out. Then I brought the black out a bit and put it densely in my crease. Then take an angled eyeliner brush and the black and create the cat eye wing look. fill in the wing and blend it out ever so slightly. we want a harsh line, but not that harsh. then line your lower lash line with a black pencil (I put white in the water line) and go over the black with the black eyeshadow to smoke it out. We want it pretty thick on the bottom. Then line the top with a gel or liquid liner (again, kind of thick) and add fake eyelashes for that extra pop. redo the pink a little bit if it got too covered my the black and voila! Scene eyes!

This is a fun look because you can change it in so many ways. Any bright color and black will do, or you can do two or three colors! The color palette is perfect because it has so many matte bright colors, which is what you want for this look. Do you hair crazy and add some bows, skinny jeans, and a studded belt and you're ready! Good Luck and have fun =) Oh, and Happy Halloween!

Coastal Scents 88 Warm Palette

Let's call the column's 1 2 3 etc and the rows A B C etc. so the Top left would be A1, and the one just to the right of that color would be A2... k?

Look #1:

First, get your face ready. Whatever that means for you. And that should definitely mean priming your lid. I'm using Eye Proxy 2 Primer by CS (coastal scents) and then Sally Hansen's eyeshadow base over that (because neither primer is perfect, I'm trying mixing them. I'll let you know how that goes.)

Now, using the only three golds in the whole palatte: F3 for lid (greenish pale gold), H2 for crease (black with gold shimmer), and D4 for highlight (pale pale gold). I foiled F3 on my lid (got my flat brush a little wet with MAC's Fix Plus before putting the shadow on my lid) I then used a small crease brush to do my outter V and crease with H2. Be careful, it's really highly pigmented. I accidentally got it everywhere and had to wipe it off and try again! then, blend out with a fluffy crease brush. Then, use that fluffy brush to apply D4 to right below your eyebrow and the inner corners of your eyes. Finally, use an angled liner brush to add some H2 to your lower lash line to act like eyeliner. Eyeliner on the top lid and mascara on the top and bottom lashes finish off this look. ENJOY!

Look #2:

This one is using the plummy colors in the palette. Emilynoel83 does a great youtube video on a similar tutorial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8frq1Npj_Yo
Again, start with a makeup ready face with primer applied.
I'm using F6 for the crease, H9 for the outter V and lower lash line, D9 for the lid, and C4 for highlight. Again, I foiled D9. I made a big wing for my eyeliner since this was already so dramatic, and I just decided to GO THERE. haha. Don't forget mascara like I did when I took these pictures! =P I'm also wearing bronzer and nude lipstick to allow my eyes to really shine through and so I don't look overpowered by all the makeup. have fun!

Side note: You don't have to do exactly what I do. Everyone has different skin tones and different shaped eyes and lids. What might look good on me might not look good on you, and vice versa. Put your own spin on it if you want to!

Huge Haul

So I purchased makeup and nail polish online.

www.coastalscents.com
www.8ty8beauty.com
www.wowsocool.com

From Coastal Scents I bought 4 brushes: Large foundation, Deluxe crease, Crease, and Square liner brushes. I also bought the eye primer, gel liner in very black, and both the 88 color and the 88 warm palettes. It also came with a sample of loose eyeshadow that I can't recall the name of right now. I am happy with all of my purchases except the eye primer so far. The primer is too waxy for me, and it's hard to apply it smoothly. I think I'll buy the drug store primer next since I'm still not ok with paying 20 dollars for a tube of primer potion. But the gel liner is good so far, and the palettes are amazing. The customer service was good.

From 8ty8beauty I purchased 5 nail polishes, but they have yet to arrive. I'll make another post when they come.

From wowsocool.com I bought Konad Nail Art Supplies. I bought the Starter Kit III, which comes with two mini nail polishes (black w/ shimmer and a cream white), an image plate (M36), a full size top coat, a scraper and a stamper. I also got two other plates (M56 and M3) and a pink top coat, hoping it would be good for french manicures. I haven't used the pink top coat for that reason yet, but I did manage to stamp some bows on ring fingers while running out the door for school this morning. It was much easier than I imagined it would be, which is awesome. It also dried really quickly, which was nice since I was late. I can't wait to really start using it and trying out different things! Me=stoked. wowsocool.com gave me amazing customer service! I actually placed an order and realized I wanted to change it, and I emailed them and got it straightened out very easily. I also used the promotion code "dazzle", hopefully it still works if you want to purchase stuff from there, it gave me 30% off!

Overall, great purchases. I'm a little upset about the primer from coastal scents because if I recall it wasn't exactly cheap... But maybe I'll figure out a way to use it so it doesn't suck? We'll see.

Fall 09 Favorite~ Pop of Color

Summer brights are fading away, and neutrals are ruling the fashion world. However, you can still get that pop of your favorite color! I added a gray cardigan over a brightly colored top. I also added a bright red bow in my hair to lighten up the gloomy weather. My favorite part? The bottom liner. It's PURPLE! If you keep the rest of your look (lids, cheeks, and lips) neutral, a pop of color on the bottom lashes only can add flair to your fall look. Just do everything you would normally do to get a natural day look, except line the bottom lash with a crazy color of your choosing. I used a pencil liner here, but you can use liquid, pencil, eyeshadow, gel, or pencil with eyeshadow on top... Whatever you prefer. I'm using Almay's Intense i-Color eyeliner in 01 Purple Amethyst. Have fun!

Product Review~ Covergirl Outlast Lipstain

So I went to my local CVS and picked up the Covergirl Outlast Lipstain in Teasing Blush (415)

I was really excited because I always hate when my lipstick would migrate and move out of my lip line. I put it on as soon as I got home. The color is fantastic. However, I hadn't exfoliated my lips because I didn't think to, so the stain was darker in the lines of my lips than the smooth area. Be sure to exfoliate first. Also, my lips are extremely dry and I can't handle not having chapstick on my lips for very long, and obviously I had none on since it needs to be applied to clean, dry lips. So I put some chapstick on top thinking the stain would still stay. It didn't. Not to say that this product isn't good, because I do like it. The chapstick didn't take it
off immediately, but it ruined the staying power. Also, when i put chapstick on the color kind rubbed off in clumps. So basically I'd say for me (since I can't live without chapstick) the lipstain has about the same amount of staying power as lipstick. However, I absolutely love love love the color. It's perfect for my pale skin and brown hair. Its also the perfect color for the look of natural/dark eyes with a bright red lip, but with deep pink instead of red for a less in-your-face version. I will continue to use it, even though it's not long wearing for me.
